Building a Free, Happy, and Prosperous Sri Lanka

We are the bridge between youth activism and national policy. We cultivate leaders who value individual liberty, rule of law, and economic freedom.

Who We Are

The Moderate Voice for Radical Change While others shout, we strategize. The Liberal Fellowship is a youth-led civil society organization dedicated to transforming Sri Lanka’s political culture. We believe that true prosperity comes not from government control, but from individual responsibility, free markets, and the rule of law.

Our Mission

To secure a future where individual liberty, personal rights, and peace are protected by the collective effort of informed citizens. We aim to replace corrupt, outdated systems with a culture of transparency and meritocracy.

Our Vision

A thriving Sri Lanka where human flourishing is powered by a bottom-up network of youth leaders who understand that freedom requires responsibility.

Our Core Values What Defines a Fellow?

Our inaugural series in Colombo set the standard for youth engagement, delivering eight intensive workshops
designed to transform activists into policymakers.

Individual Liberty

We believe every Sri Lankan has the right to shape their own destiny without undue state interference.

Rule of Law

No individual, politician, or institution is above the law.

Economic Freedom

We advocate for free markets and free choices as the only proven path to poverty alleviation.

Inclusivity

We deny the notion that transformation belongs to one social layer. From Jaffna to Matara, we build bridges across ethnic and religious lines.

Our Unique Approach

We don't just identify problems; we formulate solutions. Liberal Fellowship operates on a dual-track model:

  • The Think Tank: We gather experts and young researchers to formulate policy reforms that address the root causes of our economic crisis—corrupt legal regulations and bloated state sectors.
  • The Pressure Group: We mobilize our growing network to influence the legislature and executive, pushing these reforms from proposal to law.

Principled Action

We prove who we are by what we do. As one of the key groups of the Aragalaya Movement, we realized youth voices need to be shifted to practical action. When the country needed solutions, we launched the Youth Political Leadership Program (YPLP), educating hundreds of leaders from Colombo, Kandy, and Galle on value-based governance.

Growth & Reach

  • Our members hail from Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Jaffna, and Batticaloa.
  • Our fellowship includes undergraduates, young professionals, lawyers, and fresh school leavers.

Why Sri Lanka Needs Us Now Addressing the Root Cause, Not Just Symptoms

The recent economic crisis was not an accident; it was the inevitable result of decades of betraying liberal democratic values.

Economic reforms cannot survive without political stability. We are fixing the foundation by creating a generation of voters and leaders who cannot be fooled by populism.

Bridging the Gap

Transformation cannot happen just by lobbying the top. It requires a groundswell of support. We are the only organization effectively educating the grassroots on why liberal economics works, winning hearts and minds across all social layers.

FAQ

How is Liberal Fellowship different from a political party?

We are a civil society movement and pressure group, not a political party contesting elections. Our goal is to influence all parties to adopt better policies and to train ethical leaders who may eventually enter politics through various platforms.

Do you only work in Colombo?

Absolutely not. While we started in the capital, our active chapters in Kandy and Galle are thriving, and our digital reach connects youth from the North and East.
